Art is slowly and surely making it's way towards the center of your child's curriculum. Kindergartners through the Oldest Group student have helped to design the art room and our mission statement. Slow Down, Look, and Think are at the top of the list! Working towards those goals, each child has their own sketchbook and every day children record their ideas, plan for future projects, and write about their work. Literacy, science, math and social studies have appeared in many forms, from sketches of Vikings, to birds, to identifying leaves at this beautiful time of year! We've taken field trips to the Institute of Science to look closely at their collection of birds. We've been to the Philadelphia Art Museum in our minicourse. All kinds of materials have been explored as we work with craypas, crayons, scratch paper and watercolors. We've set up a rotating gallery in Grace where we will begin to talk about our own work and share our ideas with others. We've begun to explore the work of professional artists by examining posters in our classroom. Please ask your child if you can look at their sketchbook, or take a tour of the art room and gallery. They would love to share with you and their enthusiasm is contagious!
