From the FREEP
Dear Families,
May Fair is only two weeks away. For those of you who are new to SRV (and to the old-timers), I encourage you not to miss this one-of-a-kind event. On May 1st, the children (with the help of parents and staff) will transform the campus into a Renaissance fairground. There will be games made by kindergartners working with 6th graders, signs written in first and second grade handwriting, and prizes made by both small and large hands in assembly-line fashion in woodshop. The scent of lemon sticks, strawberries and freshly shorn wool (yuck!) will waft over the campus. Parents will enjoy conversations over a delicious lunch on the lawn while their children buy popsicles at the stand manned by Oldest Group students. Plus there will be dancing that will bring tears to your eyes. The Main Circle has been working on the Sword Dance since before Spring Break and the Oldest Group will no doubt provide us with a spectacular display of daring and confidence as they weave the ribbons on the May Pole. Preschoolers will parade their Renaissance inspired costumes and our artists in residence, Bells & Motley, will be on hand to play traditional Renaissance music and to assist the children with their dancing.
This year's May Fair will be even more special as it is the kick-off event for The School in Rose Valley's 75th Anniversary year. Throughout the weekend, alumni will be visiting and the school will be hosting a variety of events both on and off campus.
