Our History

Learning is the change that takes place as a result of experience.

Since its founding in 1929, the learning environment at The School in Rose Valley has been created and maintained by the children, teachers, and parents working together to provide educational experiences that are meaningful within an environment for learning that immerses children in the enchantment of the educational experience. It is within this environment that each student develops the tools and love of learning that enriches them throughout their lives.

At The School in Rose Valley, the curriculum is built around topics and problems that arise from children's interests, questions, and needs. The curriculum includes hands-on experiences, and it is enriched through integration across disciplines and opportunities for children to interact with others, deepening connections and understanding. Students with WagonThe curriculum includes strong academics, the arts, physical and emotional health, multi-cultural perspectives, and the skills of leadership, cooperation, and conflict resolution. Adults teach and model the values of embracing difference and diversity as vital forces in society, of respecting one's self and others, and being socially and environmentally responsible. It is a shared vision, in the classrooms and the community, that our children will develop a sense of the possibilities for the future and the skills, motivation and commitment to make these a reality.
