Creativity at SRV

At The School in Rose Valley, creativity in all arenas is encouraged as an avenue for individual self-expression and personal satisfaction. Thinking (and acting!) creatively gives children the power to see things from multiple perspectives and to collaborate with others, important skills to learn in a world that will expect them to be able to communicate with many different types of people in many different types of situations. Art, music, woodshop, and drama are integrated into classroom work, empowering students to see connections, think critically and problem-solve creatively.

Oldest Group fired masks in sawdust at the Wallingford Community Art Center. Take a look at masks from Jordan, Geoffrey and Benjamin.

Main Circle students built a kiln near the Organic Garden and Learning Center so that they could fire their coil pots in a similar fashion to the Lenape pots of 500 years ago. Using bricks and sawdust, the whole Main Circle worked together to create this functional potter's tool with Annie.

Derby shows us that Main Circle students were also busy with watercolors and map making.

Primary Circle students have learned about puppetry and working with clay.

Kindergarteners have experimented with a variety of art projects. Pictured are Noah during the partnership with students from The Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, and Hannah and Maggie sketching. Also shown are Kindergarteners' Gyotaku Japanese fish prints.
