8056 Map of Earth's Volcanoes
Alumnus Tom Simkin ('45) is a volcanologist with the Smithsonian and developed this large wall map of Earth's volcanoes, earthquakes, mountains, and deeps. On the back are panels that aim to help the reader understand the processes that have shaped our planet and are responsible for all those volcanoes, earthquakes, etc. The map is a short course on how the earth works and made to be accessible even to middle schoolers. It bears some SRV fingerprints from Tom's time here - particularly in the two earth history timelines across the back; he still remembers making timelines with "Burma-Shave" type signs at appropriate distances along the school driveway from Rose Valley Road. 4 copies are available.
