New SRV Families

Dear New SRV family,

As summer approaches, I wanted to make you aware of some information about the upcoming school year. As you may or may not know, we take sustainability very seriously at The School in Rose Valley. As such, we try to be proactive in our thinking about our imprint on the environment. Instead of mailing paperwork to families, we have posted a series of forms on our web site that you can complete and send electronically directly to our school office. Below is a list of the forms you can access, complete, and mail to us electronically:

In addition, there is an immunization/physical requirement. For preschoolers, we need a copy of their immunization record from their pediatrician, prior to the start of school. For kindergarten through 6th grade students, we need the Private Physician's Report of Physical Examination of a Pupil of School Age. Also for kindergarten through 6th grade students, we need a Dental Form. you can download and print both of these forms by clicking on their names, take thento your child's pediatrician or dentist, and then mail via post to The School in Rose Valley office. Pediatricians and dentists often have their own forms or records they give to families for school purposes. These forms are all acceptable as well.

We will be sending you information about your child's teacher and classroom in August. There will be opportunities to connect with teachers and students/families in your child's class prior to the start of the year. Teachers or classroom parents will contact you directly about these events. In addition, there is a 2008-09 School Calendar on the web site to inform you about school events throughout the school year. In particular, there are a couple of dates you should be aware of:

Water Ice Night is an event for new families. It helps children (and grown-ups!) get to know each other and the campus better so they feel more comfortable in September. There will be some seasoned families at this event so that you'll become familiar with people to go to if you have questions about school functions, school culture, or the in's and out's of daily life at SRV. Please RSVP to me by July 15 if you will not be able to attend. We understand that summer plans are different for every family so please don't give it a second thought if this is not a good date for you. There will be other opportunities to get to know the school and families prior to and at the beginning of the school year.

The New Parents Welcome is an informative and social evening for parents only. We hope you are able to attend. This is your chance to learn more specifically about all aspects of SRV – don't miss it! More information on this event will be coming in August.
