2007 MLK Day Community Events

January 8, 2007

Dear Parents,

As you know, Monday, January 15th is MLK Day and is therefore not a school day. However, we encourage your family to find a meaningful way to mark this civic holiday with your children. Below is some information about community events and Web sites you may be interested in. Check the local newspaper for a more complete listing. Also, the school library has many books and resources related to King and the Civil Rights Movement; feel free to come in and borrow something that you think meets your child's developmental needs.

Unfortunately, because of a death in my family, I am out of town all of next week, so I will not be available to answer questions about any of these events. Please use your discretion as parents to make an appropriate decision that is aligned with your family's values and recognize that this communication is for information only and does not represent school endorsement of any particular community event.

In peace,
Robin
