With the Spring Concert and CD making just behind us, the children's heads are full of songs both old and new. The kindergartners have performed the dance they created for their parents and strains of "Come to the Fair" can be heard around the campus. We're on the path to May Fair and all of the exciting end-of-the-year events that are so special to our school. With such a strong culture of singing at the heart of SRV, it seems appropriate to write a bit about "Sing" and the activities that are on the agenda for our own home-grown singing group, the SRV Chorus.

Having the privilege of being the official leader of our Wednesday morning musical gatherings puts me in a unique position. I'm the willing recipient of many requests and comments from children, parents and teachers alike as folks meander into the music room around 8:15. Sitting in front of this gathering gives me a unique vantage point from which to observe the multitudinous moods and attitudes that accompany its participants. As "Sing" progresses, the reactions, facial expressions and interactions of our singers provides me with insights (and often quite a few laughs!) into the workings of many diverse personalities. All of my misgivings about singing in the morning (and I must admit, that notion still strikes a contradictory note in the mind of this former night owl!) have been dispelled over the last 8 years as I've watched faces brighten, moods lift and, on occasion, tears flow in
