Spring Concert is almost here! Yes, ladies and gents, April 27 is the date on which each SRV child from 1st through 6th grade will be engaged in at least one musical performance (some will be involved in many!) for your listening and viewing pleasure. I can't stress enough how much it means to the children to be able to share their musical endeavors with you, their friends and the extended community. Please be sure that this event is on your calendars–April 27! The concert will begin at 7:00 P.M. It is also important for your child/children to be in school during the day on the 27th. That will be our only opportunity to run through the entire concert program as a group. Your cooperation in making this a success is greatly appreciated.
Now that you've got the logistical details, it is my pleasure to tantalize you with a preview of the performances you'll see on April 27:
- Our 1st and 2nd graders will regale you with tone chimes music and a production number from their original opera.
- Full of enthusiasm about playing recorders, Main Circle children will share two familiar songs that they're learning to sing and play on both recorders and xylophones: "Jackfish" and "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot."
- Oldest Group will share several tone chimes pieces that they've learned over the course of the year. Two of the pieces have been revived from the Winter Music Assembly for the benefit of those of you who weren't able to attend that performance.
- Throughout the concert, the SRV Chorus will sing and entertain you with a wide variety of tunes, some of which were sung at our winter performance.
This little bit of information can't possibly convey to you the wonderful work your children are doing to prepare for this concert. You'll just have to see it to believe it!
